I've been getting my hair done professionally in the salon since then, but after a while letting it go natural, and crazy salon prices, thought I'd try a home box job again.It says 'removes brassiness' and 'no yellow, blah, blah' so I stupidly didn't buy ten bottles of toner. I did have salon quality blue shampoo and conditioner in the house, though, so went for it.Oh. My. God. My medium brown hair went BRIGHT yellow on top and underneath BRIGHT orange. I used my toning stuff for an hour. It did nothing. In a panic I rejoined Amazon Prime and ordered good quality blue and purple toners. I tried not to leave the house to walk the dogs in daylight, which as it's May, is hard. I met people, I broke out in cold sweats. I looked like a highlighter pen. I'm too old to simply look extra crazy cool. I looked mental. Earlier today I put the blue toner on for an hour. It helped the yellow quite a bit. I've now put on the purple toner. (60 mins rather than 20 mins). It helped the orange a lot. Don't get me wrong, I'm not 'ice blonde'. I'm a warm blonde which looks fine with hair worn down a certain way. In different light, of course, it does looks cooler. As sadly toners aren't permanent, I've got my work cut out.I've got naturally brown hair (with new grey) and this product is advertised as for all depths of brown hair. I wouldn't wish the horror, panic and embarrassment of the highlighter pen head to anyone, let alone a 45 year old with forehead wrinkles, giant bags under her eyes and dogs that need walking. The box instructions I feel should recommend/mention the purchase of blue and purple toners. [Posts feedback and vows to forget this hideous event asap and forever]. Within 15mins of application colour started to lift out of natural black/almost black (1b) virgin hair. I did 2 applications and am as shown in the picture. On second application I did put a shower cap and add short blasts of heat and found that the colour took even better. My hair is down to my bottom and I used one pack each time. Was quite pleasantly surpised with the amount of dye in each pack. My hair is not super dry or anything which is good considering I've given it such an intense colouring session. Except my unbleached hair at the top had gone ginger and I had loads of root regrowth. It lightened my hair incredibly well and does exactly what the picture on the back says. Only advice I would give is USE TWO BOXES!! I didn't cover all my hair with one bottle. And definitely, definitely USE A TONER straight after as it will be on the Orange side.
