Step 1
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the green beans and water.
Step 2
Bring to a boil and then turn down to a simmer. Let cook for 3-4 minutes until the green beans are bright green and tender crisp. This is basic a shortcut to blanch the green beans.
Step 3
Drain the green beans and water. Use a paper towel to dry the pan.
Step 4
Add the butter. Once it melts, add the garlic (and any other spices) and cook for 30-60 seconds until fragrant.
Step 5
Add the green beans and cook for 1-2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
