Step 1

Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all of the pieces for your 3D winter birdhouse.Note: If you are using the SVG files that includes the score lines, don’t forget to set them as such in Cricut Design Space and attach them to their shapes before sending them through your cutting machine. I used a lime green color to mark the score lines, so hopefully that helps! If you’re having trouble with the score lines, check out this video. I also used a Cricut marker to draw the designs on the birdhouse walls, but if that’s not an option for you, then you can delete those lines before cutting the design.

Step 2

Start by folding each of the two main birdhouse walls along the score lines.Glue the tabs on the sidewalls to the perimeter of the front/back walls. Then, attach the two halves of the structure together.

Step 3

Take your front, center piece and fold along the score lines. Attach the top portions together to form a peak.Slip the whole thing into the hole in the front wall of the birdhouse and glue the tabs of the center piece to the inside.Layer the brown circle pieces on the two black pieces so that they look like stacked logs. Attach the two assembled log pieces to the front and back of the slanted side portion of the birdhouse.

Step 4

Take each of your shingle pieces and sort them out by shape. Then, match up the light brown pieces with their corresponding dark brown piece and glue them together.Once those are all attached and sorted, start layering your shingles on top of one another. You will need to make three roof sections. As you layer each shingle strip on top of the other, be sure to only overlap them to the point where the scalloped edge just barely covers the light brown strip at the top.Attach each of the shingle sections to the three main, sloped roof sections of the birdhouse. You will probably need to trim the top edge of the shingles. Finally, fold the three small shingle pieces in half and attach them to the top of the center portion of the birdhouse (going from largest to smallest).

Step 5

Take your base piece and fold along the score lines. Attach the tabs to each of the sides.Slip the bottom tabs of your birdhouse into the slits in the base and glue them down.Finish by attaching your dripping snow pieces under the eaves of the birdhouse, layering the pine/berry decoration, and adding any other finishing touches to your festive winter project!
