Apple Dumpling Bake

apples

tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls

sugar

butter, softened

cinnamon

Mountain Dew soda

Vanilla ice cream

Yowza!  I chose this for its simplicity and was completely unprepared for how deeelish it was!  Don't think you would get a better result if you spent all day in the kitchen making everything from scratch! So there, foodies! Try pouring the residue in the pan over the dumplings before adding the ice cream. My husband kept saying how great it was! Would make a terrific potluck or large group dessert.

Can you make this using Sprite instead of Mt. Dew? I made these years ago and like to stick to Taste of Home recipes......but WE DONT do Mt. Dew in my home. Please Reply and Thanks!

I have made this multiple times in the past 2 months. I don't sprinkle the cinnamon/sugar/butter like they do in the video.  I put a spoonful on top of each one and press it down.  That keeps the goodness directly on each dumpling. I just made four (8 cans of crescents) trays to give to our Fire Department - they sell chicken dinners and provide a dessert.  They're going to LOVE THEM!

This was easy and so tasty. Ice cream topped it off perfectly.

Made this last night, very good!  I was very skeptical because the mix of butter, sugar, and cinnamon ( I also added 1/2 tsp of nutmeg) wasn’t a sprinkling consistentcy. Placed on top of dumplings by tablespoonful. Baked into a nice crunch! I also only used 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup of sugar. Personal preference, Was perfectly sweetened and buttery. Will definitely make again and will try with even less butter. Thank you Chris

Absolutely heavenly!  I served it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  The top cooks a little crispy, like a pastry and the bottoms bake custardy.

Wow! These were so simple and so good! Have made these many times already and they are requested often. Definitely a keeper!

I made this recipe for the first time today for our Thanksgiving dinner.  I doubled the recipe and put it in a turkey roasting sized throw away rectangular pan...one of the huge ones and it held 24 and I added an extra 1/4 cup of Mt. Dew per recipe.  We ate them warm without the ice cream and everyone went wild about them. This recipe is a definite keeper.

These are so easy and fun to make, and they turned out very well. The Mountain Dew is a great conversation piece too - people find it hard to believe they are an ingredient in this dessert! Next time I will probably reduce the sugar a bit, since they were quite sweet made as is.

I made this EXACTLY  a the recipe said and it was DELICIOUS!  The full cup of sugar with the cinnamon and butter gave the rolls a sweet crunchy topping.

I made this wonderful dessert with golden delicious apples for church potluck and served with ice cream...out of this world!  Golden delicious apples hold their shape when baked and are so, so good!

This recipe is incorrect and the consistency of the topping wrong. Use 1 c. Butter melted and then stir in 2/3 c. Sugar and 1t cinnamon. Pour THAT on top of crescent rolls and then pour Mountain Dew around the sides. Just made this yesterday for company. Delicious!

Great tasting, easy recipe.  I've been making these apple dumplings for years and my family and friends love them!

I have made this recipe using regular or diet 7-Up and it works just as well---any type of lemon-lime soda will do.

This recipe is wonderful, but try it with peaches.  I REALLY like it with peaches a lot better.  Instead of Mountain Dew I use pineapple juice - gives it a better taste.

I have a similar recipe that uses canned biscuits and 7-up or Sprite.  We like using the biscuits better (separating the layers into two pieces of biscuit).  This dessert is delicious and always a conversation piece!
