Bacon-Wrapped Smokies

(16 ounces) miniature smoked sausage links

brown sugar

I've been making this recipe for over 30 years. I have 2 suggestions. <ol><li>More brown sugar! Don't measure, just put it on until the smokies are mostly covered.</li><li>This is the important part, let it sit over night in the fridge! The fat from the pork combined with the sugar give the bacon wrapped dogs an extra crunch. </li></ol>BONUS: Use maple flavores bacon.

We love these appetizers! I make them often for potlucks or when we have an appetizer night. The sweet and salty flavors make it hard to eat just one!

Love this for an appetizer or a football party. I basted a little barbecue sauce before the brown sugar.

These were a big hit for Christmas Eve.  I used Nueske's Wild Cherry Wood Bacon cut in thirds and decreased the brown sugar to 2 TBSPS.  sprinkled over the top.  I think my hubby ate most of them!  :)

I skip the brown sugar and use maple bacon. Delicious. Everyone loves them. So easy.

Does anyone know if these can be made, refrigerated and then taken to a party and reheated in a microwave without losing its original goodness?

My aunt gave me this recipe years ago with one minor change, Instead of dipping them in maple syrup we drizzle it all over them before adding the brown sugar which helps it stick to the smokys and helps prevent the sugar from burning they are a fabulous hit at all of our partys EVERYONE LOVES them!

Very quick and easy tasty snack. Took them to a recent snack food potluck and they were a hit! I reccomend using foil underneath for easy cleanup and check them often as the brown sugar burns easily.

Make this easy!  Cut the bacon into thirds, wrap each with a sausage..BUT use a silpat on the bottom of your pan.  If you don't have silpat, use foil.  Only sprinkle brown sugar over the top of each one before you bake them.  Just cook until you see the bacon has browned.  If the bacon starts to brown too quickly on top, turn the heat down to 375.  Enjoy!

I cut down on the brown sugar and they were plenty sweet.  There were rave reviews from everyone who tried them.  They were certainly no left-overs!

My aunt made these all the time when I was a kid so when I found this recipe I had to try it. They were tangy and sweet just like hers.

These were a big hit!  I made these for a small event and they went over like gangbusters!  Even a medical docotor in the group loved them!    I  followed the recipe without any changes.  Pretty simple!

I will definitely be making these again.  But I think next time I will be watching them more closely.  You have to watch them because of the sugar.  It will burn real fast if you don't watch it.  But they were such a hit with the family I will have to make these again soon.

Just served these at my bowling buffet.Everyone loved them!  Now I'll make them for our family x-mas appetizer party.  Like missusd1 suggested, I made them a day ahead and put them on a rack in the foil lined pan.  They took 30 minutes to cook. I then served them from an insulated dish that keeps things warm, cold for a couple hours.  Thanks for the recipe!

We LOVE these! I make these for many of our parties and gatherings through out the year. The only thing I do just a little different is to drizzle just a little bit of pure maple syrup over the top of the smokies at the very end of cooking and I keep them warm in a slow cooker on the warm setting.

Have made these multiple times for tailgates, brunches and parties.  Everyone loves them!
