Export 6 ingredients for grocery delivery
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9”x13” pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
Step 2
In a medium mixing bowl, smash 6-7 ripe bananas with a fork or potato masher. Place in the bottom of the 9”x13” pan.
Step 3
Top the bananas with 1 can of evaporated milk
Step 4
Dump the cake mix over the milk. Do not mix. Top with half of the bag of cinnamon topping.
Step 5
Add sliced butter in an even layer over the top of the entire pan.
Step 6
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 7
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, whisk together light brown sugar, milk, and unsalted butter over medium heat until butter has completely melted. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Transfer to a small pitcher or gravy boat.
Step 8
Serve cake with sliced fresh banana slices, chopped pecans and a drizzle of vanilla sauce.
Step 9
This is a great way to use up ripe bananas and ingredients you already have at home!
Step 10
I only recommend using half of the cinnamon topping that comes with the cake because it is extremely sweet, especially in combination with the vanilla sauce.
Step 11
If my cake mix still looks like it’s powdery after baking, how do I fix that? Just add a little more butter to the top of the uncooked cake mix, and bake for about a minute. Be sure to check often to make sure the butter has melted onto all the dry areas.
Step 12
This could also be served with ice cream or topped with milk.
Step 13
Can I add the nuts into the cake? Yes, just add them after you pour in the evaporated milk.
Step 14
Pecans or walnuts would be great for toppings on this recipe. They do not need to be candied, as this is already a sweet and decadent dessert.
Step 15
This is such a quick dessert. If you are in a hurry, this is so easy with very little prep time. If you want to make it even faster, just eliminate the vanilla sauce.
Step 16
Why is it called a dump cake? This recipe gets its name because you are dumping ingredients into the pan. It’s so easy and simple!
Step 17
This is not a traditional cake, so the texture is not the same. It is kind of like a mixture between a cobbler and a bread pudding.
Step 18
This is the cake mix I recommend. If you use another brand of cake mix for this recipe, it may not have the same amount of mix, so just be sure to look out for that.
Step 19
Don’t forget to shake up your evaporated milk before pouring it over the mashed bananas.
