After trying a few bratwurst recipes, I've found this meal-in-one is ideal for camping since it grills to perfection in a heavy-duty foil bag. This was fabulous!!  We were under a fire ban - no campfires - so I baked this in the oven, using a roasting pan, covered with foil, at 350 for approx 45 minutes. I also added chopped up yellow squash!  5 stars!!

I made this tonight and it was absolutely delicious! This recipe is a keeper!

Made this for a camping potluck and it worked out fantastic over an open fire and we had no leftovers.

We've made this recipe SO many times, and every time we are in awe with out delicious this is!  I often switch up the veggies a bit.  I always omit the mushrooms, but I often add broccoli and bell pepper.  This past time I also included baby corn spears.  Sometimes I also switch up the sausage (we've tried different flavors and types of sausage).  I usually only do 1 lb of meat, about 1/3 bag of baby carrots, 1 small to medium head of broccoli, and 1 lb of potatoes.  Then I cut the "sauce" ingredients only in half (butter, onion soup mix, soy sauce, pepper).  We also use lower sodium soy sauce and I think it tastes great!  We will continue to make this recipe, tweaking it as we go.  Thanks so much for such a simple but delicious meal!

Love this recipe. The trifecta quick, easy and delicious. My wife doesn't like mushrooms so i can't wait to try it with the shrooms, but i love it without. Great for camping. I prepare it ahead of time. And everyone loves it.

When I use Andouille or kielbasa in a recipe, I found the cutting the sausage lengthwise first then in thirds allows the sausage to cook better and lend it's flavor more efficiently to the ingredients surrounding it.  It is better for browning them too.When making jambalaya, cutting this way lets the sausage release the spices into the rice in a better way making the rice more flavorful.  Works well with potatoes too.

This is still my husbands favorite dinner - two years since my first review. He requests it so often that I now alternate the soup mix and soy sauce with montreal steak spice to keep things interesting. And I always pre-fry the brats in a pan now, just to crisp the outside not cooked all the way through, it adds so much more flavor!

Family favorite.  I triple the recipe for large gatherings and cook in my Nesco.  Never any leftovers.

By far the most disgusting food I have ever eaten.  Wasted all that money and time.  This was enough for me to vomit.

Everyone enjoy's this supper, it makes dinner for two nights! We have even made it for part of thanksgiving dinner.

I follow the recipe except I simmer it covered in a large skillet.  Because it is difficult to get all the ingredients in the skillet, I use 2 lbs. baby red potatoes and 2 lbs. of bratwurst.

This recipe was great! I loved the seasonings used, now one of my top favorites for camping. I used fresh mushrooms, and next time I will grill the brats on their own so they can crisp up.

Made tonight for a cottage party.  We used tinfoil roasting pans instead of foil packets.  Just stirred every so often. I also used fresh Italian sausage which I parboiled first for about 15 minutes.  Even made one packet Vegetarian for one guest.  Everyone loved the meal.

This is a great recipe! I followed the instructions but only used 1lb of Bratwurst and 5 or 6 red potatoes. Baked it in the oven at 375 for one hour. It came out great!

Too wet and cold outside to make the packets and grill, so baked in the oven and it came out wonderful. I still made the packets and placed on a jelly roll pan in the oven. Will definitely make this again as my family loved it!

So easy and delicious too! I used fresh mushrooms instead of canned. Next time I may add a little beer or water to the mix to help it steam a little better. I doubled the butter but that was not necessary.

I have made this for years, so glad others have enjoyed for large gatherings.  Have made in the oven and sent to friends uncooked for their larger gatherings.  I use low sodium soy sauce.  KEEPER

Made this while camping this past summer and the whole family loved it.  And so, so easy for camping.

This is a perfect recipe to feed a crowd. I love making it for the simplicity. All wrapped in foil and serve on a big platter. Have made this several times. Make sure you seal tightly so as not to lose all the juices when turning. over. Big hit around the campfire!!!
