Step 1

Preheat the oven to 200C (180C fan). Make sure the oven shelf is in the middle of the oven.

Step 2

Cut 10-12 bread slices into suitable size pieces so that they will fit in the tray in two layers.

Step 3

Grease the oven dish with a knob of butter.

Step 4

Put the milk, cream, eggs and sugar in a bowl. Whisk together.

Step 5

Dip half of the bread slices into the milk-egg mixture and put them into the oven dish.

Step 6

Spread the jam on top of the bread.

Step 7

Dip the remaining bread slices into the milk-egg mixture and put them on top of the jam.

Step 8

Pour the rest of the milk-egg mixture into the oven dish.

Step 9

Cook the pudding for 25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Step 10

Allow to cool a little.

Step 11

Dust with icing sugar.
