Ingredients: 1/4 cup fat-free Italian salad dressing; 1/2 teaspoon sugar; 1/8 teaspoon salt; 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder; 1/8 teaspoon curry powder; 1/8 teaspoon paprika; 1/8 teaspoon pepper; 2 cod fillets (6 ounces each); 2 teaspoons butter

This recipe looked really good but we felt like having shrimp instead of cod.  So I made some changes, with all due respect to the original recipe because it does sound great and I will use it on cod one of these days.  I tripled the Italian dressing, doubled the sugar, tripled the other spices.  After tasting I added approximately another teaspoon of the curry and another 1/2 teaspoon of the garlic powder.  I left out the butter. Then I marinated the shrimp for about 1/2 an hour and pan-sauteed them in the marinade  It was delicious.  I could see making it hotter, spice-wise, but this was fine for me.  I used about 3 dozen peeled, raw shrimp, 21-25 per pound size.  Thanks for a great jumping off place for this twist on the recipe!

was really good.  I didn't have any curry powder, so I used a little cajun seasoning...... will definitely make again.

This is a good recipe for what you need to know in terms of how long to cook the fish. I like mine simpler too, but I also like it spicy, so mine uses just a lil oil on the fish and pan, some Louisiana Hot Sauce smeared thinly on the top side of the fish after a squeeze of lemon, followed by cayenne pepper and  black pepper tp taste. I serve it w/ a dollop of creamy horseradish on the side. Delicious! You really don't taste the seasonings, it just gives it a pleasant kick. Most of the seasoning gets mellowed out in the cooking process. I tend to cook it just 8 minutes too, but it depends on you broiler and how thick your fillets are.

Perfect balance of crispy and flaky. And delicious.

Made it. Husband loved it. We made it using talipia & salmon. Both turned out great.  Tried some with and w/o butter - liked it without butter better.  This is a keeper.

I've never tried this on any other types of fish but I would use it on various kinds of fish.

Not bad...just didn't have much flavor. The marinade smelled amazing but maybe it just needs to sit longer. I marinaded mine for about 20 minutes. I might try this recipe again sometime since it was easy and I feel has potential.

Fantastic! Although butter is natural....I don't put anything artifical in my body...natural is always better.

I made this last night and it was a hit with my fish loving husband.  I'm not much of fish eater, but I thought it was good as well.  I had two cod fillets in the freezer, but wanted to make enough for leftovers as well.  I couldn't find cod at the store, so I bought flounder fillets.  We both think the marinade was even better with the flounder.

Delicious. My whole family loved it. I definitely recommend using the broiler pan.

I made this fish last night.  It was soooooo good!  I'm not a fish person, but this had such good flavor!  The only thing I didn't do was put the butter on it.  I am going to try this recipe on chicken next!

First in response to FrogWizzer's concern about the 1/8th tsp. curry powder, do be 1/8th tsp. bold and include it. Even this insignificant amount will enhance this recipe.Insofar as this recipe sounds, we will be trying it soon, as we love cod filets and are always looking for new recipes for this favorite.  The combination of ingtredients in the marinade sounds great!

Excellent recipe just the way it is....refreshingly different taste; moist, and with a flavored rice and steamed vegetables...this is a healthy and delicious meal.  Congrats to Kim Russell!!

@francisca3032...it never ceases to amaze me that people want to cook fish but do everything possible to "keep the fishy taste out".  Cook something else.There is nothing worse than a nondescript tasting fish (tilapia I. e.) that you have to add a dozen or so herbs etc. to have some taste that's not even FISH.There is not a fish that swims that is nothing short of incredible in and of it's on merit in taste.Fry it, poach it, bake it, grill it, stew it, roast it and everything else...

Recipe was easy to make. Fish was very flaky.

This was not the greatest recipe. It was ok on the salmon, but the tilapia it was not good. I think it needed to soak  in milk before marinading it to get some of the fishy taste out.

I thought I would give this a try to change things up..BIG MISTAKE!! Did not take like Cod.. doing it this way took the good tase of the cod away,, did not ever taste like fish..LOL.. I can not see how anyone would give this recipe higher then 1 star if you respect the taste of Cod...LOL.. If you loved this recipe so much! You do not like fish; your just trying to cover the taste up....LOL .... Next time i am going to cook my cod like I always do,,,Simple...Some Lemon Juice and Pepper.. comes out great!!!
