Oatmeal is a favorite breakfast food, quick, easy and filling. I came up with this version by using some of the same ingredients from my favorite breakfast smoothie. Add bran cereal for a heartier taste and more fiber. A brown sugar substitute and soy milk also blend in well. &mdash;Jessi Rizzi, Odenton, Maryland


Brown Sugar & Banana Oatmeal

milk

oats

large ripe banana, sliced

brown sugar

honey

cinnamon

milk cinnamon, optional

Tried it this morning and I loved it. I like a little more than sweet

It wasn't bad, but wasn't good. I am only 12 and I might have messed up the ingredients but it's still ok ;)

It’s worth a try. I think it’s a little too sweet. I think the honey OR brown sugar would be sufficient. I omitted cinnamon. Overall a tasty, fairly healthy recipe.

This is exactly what I was hoping for.  I have made it 3 mornings in a row.  It is so good! I topped it with dried cranberries and pecan pieces.

I made this on Saturday. I used unsweetened almond milk instead of cow's milk. I also added a tablespoon of peanut butter for some added flare. I omitted the sugar and honey and just used maple syrup. I also used regular old fashioned oats. Winner winner!

While I was boiling the milk, my 4 year old sliced the bananas, it's just as quick as the packets of oatmeal but tastes so much better.  It made just enough for 3, just like it said, the 2 year old loved it too!

So delish! I like a few less bananas, though. Almost doesn't need extra sweetener.

Very quick and easy. My family loved it. I didn't have bananas So I used 1/2 cup applesauce. Although we love bananas So next time I'll use that.

very good but i used water instead of milk(because im vegan) and it still turned out good

My kids really liked this and scraped their bowls clean!!  I often turn to instant oatmeal packets for quick breakfasts before school, but this is very "do-able" on a weekday morning and I feel better about feeding it to my kids.  Keeper!!

Very easy . . .uses on-hand ingredients. Delicious and nutritious! I make this regularly for my kiddos instead of the instant oatmeal packets. It's so much better for them.

This is a great recipe to, I think the extra ingredients add just the right amount of sweetness without adding too much sugary items.  I also like switching out banana for blueberries, or adding both!

This was delicious!  I did add extra oats, b/c the mixture was too thin for me.

I forgot the honey and my kids still loved this. I'll be adding it to our breakfast rotation- quick and delicious!
