Step 1

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Sauté tomato, ½ onion and 3 garlic cloves for a couple of minutes, then add in dried chili peppers. Sauté for 5-8 minutes. Add ½ cup water, then cook 5 minutes.

Step 2

Add the above mixture to a blender or food processor along with oregano, cumin, salt and pepper. Blend until you have a smooth consistency.

Step 3

Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel and season with ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp pepper and 1 tsp paprika. Heat butter in a skillet over medium high heat, then sauté the shrimp 3-4 minutes per side. Remove to a plate.

Step 4

Sauté remaining onion and garlic till the onion starts to become translucent. Add the blended sauce mixture. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, then add in the cooked shrimp.
