Step 1
Wash the tomatoes, remove the sepals, and slice them into circles.
Step 2
Dry the mozzarella balls in a paper towel. Gently press on the balls to remove even more water. Then slice the balls into circles. Cut a small star shape out of the cheese with a star cookie cutter.
Step 3
Cut the lemon into small slices, remove the seeds.
Step 4
Start assembling your Caprese Christmas tree salad on a clean cutting board decorated with a sprig of a Christmas tree. Place 1 circle of tomato and 1 circle of mozzarella cheese at the top of the board. Continue to build rows, increasing the number of tomato and mozzarella slices. Add lemon slices and fresh basil in between.
Step 5
For the tree trunk, place oblong-shaped breadsticks or pretzel sticks at the bottom of the tree. Top it off with the cheese star.
Step 6
Now spread some chopped purple cabbage across the tree. Drizzle the entire salad with balsamic vinegar or your own balsamic glaze and olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Step 7
And finally, decorate your Christmas tree-shaped Caprese salad with almonds arranged in pairs to mimic cone shapes. Add red berries and parsley for a festive finish.
