Step 1

Peel, core, and cut 2 pounds Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Pink Lady apples into 1/4-inch thick slices.

Step 2

Melt 6 tablespoons unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1 pinch kosher salt. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Add the apples and stir to coat. Cook, stirring regularly until the apples are tender and lightly browned around the edges and the syrup is thickened and glossy, 8 to 10 minutes.
