Step 1

Heat oil over high heat in a large frying pan. Add onion and water, cook, stirring constantly, until golden and caramelised. (About 10 minutes)

Step 2

Add mince, cook, breaking up with a wooden spoon, until browned. (8-10 min)

Step 3

Add pasta sauce, undrained crushed tomatoes and recipe base, stir, taste. If salty then add 1 tbs of sugar, stir and taste again, if needed, add another tbs of sugar. Season to taste with the pepper. Lower heat and simmer, uncovered, for around 15 minutes. (If sauce is too thick for your liking then add a couple of tbs of water)

Step 4

Serve sauce over cooked spaghetti or pasta of choice. Top with freshly grated parmesan cheese and serve with garlic bread if desired.
