Step 1

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.

Step 2

Prepare the Pan: Brush a 9" cast iron skillet or a 7x10 baking dish with 1 tbsp of butter.

Create Buttermilk (if using DF milk): Whisk together oat milk and vinegar to create buttermilk.

Step 4

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients until well combined.

Step 5

Incorporate Butter: Cut in the cold butter until pea-sized crumbs form.

Step 6

Add Buttermilk: Stir in the buttermilk, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

Step 7

Chill the Dough: Place the dough in the freezer for 20 minutes.

Step 8

Scoop and Bake: Remove from the freezer and, using a large ice cream scoop, scoop 6 large biscuits into the baking dish. Top with cherry pie filling and bake for 20 minutes.

Step 9

Prepare Glaze: Mix 2 tsp milk (you may need an additional 1 tsp) with 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar until smooth. Drizzle on top.
