Chicken & Egg Noodle Casserole

egg noodles (about 12 ounces)

each) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted

sour cream

2% milk

salt

pepper

chicken breasts

Ritz crackers (about 20 crackers)

butter, melted

I changed the recipe to add vegetables. While I cooked the chicken I added celery, carrots,onions,garlic while cooking the chicken. Took breast out of the pan.  I cooked my noodles with the vegetables.  When done I drained it all.and mixed everything together.  It turned out really good.

Easy and my family loved it...  I seasoned and broiled my chicken breasts.  I also added carrot slices and would add mushrooms next time.  Recipe is noodle heavy and chicken light as is.  My kids suggested backing off on the noodles (maybe to 5 cups) and doubling or more the chicken.

Made this tonight for a diabetic mate.  It was fantastic!  Couldn't find cream of chicken soup because it's gone the way of TP and   pork because of  the situation. I substituted with Progresso cream of mushroom soup and it was fantastic!  Definately will make this again.

This is a fall staple in our house! I saute chopped onion with the chicken for more flavor, and add some shredded cheddar cheese. We prefer it with panko bread crumbs instead of the crackers, but both are delicious. Such a comforting casserole!

I made this wonderful casserole for dinner last night and it was amazingly delicious!  I realized after my husband and I were raving about it, that I put in 6 oz. of uncooked noodles in the recipe instead of 6 cups of uncooked noodles (before cooking).  It was less carbs, however, and tasted great!  I added two small cans of mushrooms to it.  It is definitely on my rotation list now and I plan to add the full amount of noodles to it next time! I liked this recipe after adding onion, garlic,  celery, mushrooms and some added seasoning per the reviews I read. Peas would be nice for some folks who like peas. The base recipe is perfect

Yummy!! I just added onion and garlic but it is still very good without. Couldn't believe how good the buttered ritz cracker topping was. Next time i make my baked macaroni and cheese l will use the buttery cracker topping instead of my usual panko bread crumbs.

Ok, yes, it was slightly tweaked.  I used both cans cream of chicken.  Added some dried minced onion & chicken stock base (about 1 Tb of each) and a dash of ground sage.  Sprinkled plain Panko on top.  Cooked for 20, sprinkled shake cheese & some shredded mozzarella on top, baked for 10 more minutes.  DELICIOUS!!!  The only other place I cheated was I used chicken pulled from a rotisserie chicken, so that added to the flavor.  This is now my go-to comfort food

A few shakes of garlic powder and some onion and I used crushed potato chips on top instead of crackers and butter.  Yummy said all.

I made this recipe last night, came out great. I made the condensed soup from scratch, added two cups frozen mixed vegetables and some shredded cheddar cheese. Didn't have crackers, so used bread crumbs. I will be making this again!

The first time I made it, it was good, but quite bland.  The next time I added parsley, italian spice mixture and italian grated cheese.  It had a lot more flavor.  Would make again using these changes.

Thank you for sharing this recipe and your generous spirit in helping a friend who experienced tragedy. This is wonderful "comfort food"! Added a bit of poultry seasoning and used potato chips as the topping just because they were on hand. Other than that, it was perfect. Others evidently thought so too or it would not have deserved almost 5 stars!!

Great basic comfort food recipe!  I did make a few changes based only on personal preference.  I added some shredded  cheese, sauteed mushrooms, onions and green peppers.  I also added some garlic to the soup/sour cream base and used Kluski noodles.  I find the kluski noodles hold up better when freezing leftovers.

So amazing!!!! Add any veggies.... Will make many times.... Great for potlucks!!!!!

This recipe is tasteless and tastes like mayo with chicken. Thankfully, I tasted the "sauce" before using it or this would have gone in the trash on first bite. I'd list all the things I did to make this more enjoyable but it's basically a whole new recipe (thyme, garlic/onion powder, parsley, shredded cheese, roasted red peppers, other veg etc.)  Skip this one. There are far better on TOH.

I modified this recipe by adding broccoli and dried minced onion, and reduced the amount of noodles.  I also used seasoned bread crumbs in place of the crackers.  It turned out great.  Would like to try it again with the crackers on top next time.

The only thing this is missing is more spice...  But otherwise, the perfect dish for a cold night!

Great recipe.  I added some cheese along with a bag of frozen peas and carrots, I increased the milk to one cup.  I will be making this again!  :)

This is very good.  It's also a recipe that would be good with additions to your liking.  I added a little bit of Mexican Style Blend Shredded Cheese that comes in a package already shredded, which was a good addition. I also, added a little bit of "Better Than Bouillon Roast Chicken Base" as katte did.

This turned out really well.  My daughter didn't even complain!  The crushed crackers on top really added to the texture.  Will be making this again.

This is a comfort food recipe.  Very tasty and easy to make using ingredients most of us have on hand.

Good hearty meal that uses simple, well known ingredients...which means the kids will eat it too!!  Agree with the others that additional spices are necessary.  Like some of the other commenters I also blended garlic (powder) into the mixture for extra flavor.
