Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
Step 2
Prepare the cornbread batter according to the package directions. Spread half the batter into a greased baking dish. Set it aside.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the green pepper, onion, and celery. Cook it and stir for 5-7 minutes or until crisp-tender.
Step 4
Add the hot dogs. Cook them for 3-4 minutes or until lightly browned.
Step 5
Mix in the chili, brown sugar, garlic powder, and chili powder. Bring the mixture to a boil. Mix in 3/4 cup of cheddar cheese.
Step 6
Spoon the mixture over the cornbread batter. Top it with the remaining half of the cornbread, followed by the remaining 1/4 cup of cheese.
Step 7
Bake it uncovered for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
