Chocolate Chip Shortbread Cookie Bars

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325F.

Step 2

Dump softened butter and egg whites into a large mixing bowl.

Step 3

Use an electric mixer to combine the ingredients until no large lumps remain.

Step 4

Add the icing sugar to the bowl.

Step 5

Continue mixing with the electric mixer until smooth.

Step 6

Add the flour and salt to the bowl.

Step 7

Mix with the electric mixer until dough forms.

Step 8

Add the chocolate chips to the bowl.

Step 9

Stir the chocolate chips into the dough.

Step 10

Dump the cookie dough onto a greased 10 x 15 inch baking sheet.

Step 11

Press the dough out evenly to cover the entire pan.

Step 12

Place the cookie sheet in the oven and bake until the shortbread is golden brown around the edges and lightly browned all across the top. 23-26 minutes.

Step 13

Remove the pan from the oven and allow the shortbread to cool slightly before slicing.
