Step 1

In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside.

Step 2

Using a mixer, beat the butter with the sugar until it reaches a fluffy consistency. Add the egg, and continue to mix until combined. Use a spatula to fold in melted chocolate.

Step 3

Stir in half of the dry ingredients, then add the milk, continuing to stir to combine. Mix in the rest of the dry ingredients, stirring with a wooden spoon.

Step 4

Spread the mixture onto a baking pan covered in wax paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 5

Use a round cookie cutter (about 3 inches in diameter) to cut circles out of the dough. Use a smaller cutter (about 1 inch in diameter) to punch a hole in the center of each circle, forming donuts.

Step 6

Deep-fry in hot oil and drain on paper towels.

Step 7

Using a toothpick, make small holes in the top of the donuts. Transfer brigadeiro mixture to a pastry sleeve and fill the donuts with the mixture.

Step 8

Decorate with Brigadeiro mixture and chocolate sprinkles.
