Preheat oven to 350° F.

Mix flourcocoabaking soda and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.

Mix butter and sugars in a stand mixer or with a hand mixer until light in color and homogenous. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until fluffy. Add dry ingredients and mix until combined. Stir in 1/2 cup morsels and 1/2 cup candies.

Place tablespoon sized balls onto cookie sheets lined with parchmentleaving 2 inches between each cookie. Bake 8-10 minutes until cookies are set. Remove from oven and place sheets on cooling rack. Let cookies cool before dipping in glaze.
Step 5
Make the glaze by microwaving 1 cup morsels and shortening in a small microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10- to 20-second intervalsstirring until smooth. Line 2 baking sheets with wax paper.
Step 6
Dip one cookie halfway into chocolate; shake off excess. Place on prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with chopped candy canes. Repeat with remaining cookieschocolate and candy canes. Refrigerate for 15 minutes or until coating is set.
