Step 1

In a large pot, place brisket, bay leaves and enough water to cover.

Step 2

Simmer, covered for about an hour per pound.

Step 3

When meat is tender add carrots.

Step 4

Boil for about 10 minutes, then add cabbage.

Step 5

Cook another 15- 20 minutes, until tender.

Step 6

Remove the meat and place on a cutting board.

Step 7

Slice the meat across the grain into thin slices after letting it rest for 5minutes.

Step 8

Serve with vegetables and ladle some broth on top.
