Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Combine beef, turnip, carrot and onion in a bowl.

Step 2

Cut 2 x 14cm circles from each sheet of pastry. Place 1/4 cup of beef mixture into centre of each circle. Brush edges with water. Press edges together to seal and form frills. Stand upright on baking tray.

Step 3

Brush pasties with beaten egg. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until golden. Serve with tomato relish.
