Step 1
To a stock pot on medium heat add oil and allow to heat for a minute.

To the pot add diced onion and stir. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until the onions are translucent. Add minced garlic and hot pimento paste and stir, followed by bay leaves, cloves, hot chili powder, smoked paprika, dried oregano, cayenne and soy sauce. Stir to combine and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Step 3
Stir in the white kidney beans until everything is evenly coated, then add water, bouillon paste, salt, pepper and green cabbage. Stir and place the lid on your pot and allow to cook for 20-30 minutes.
Step 4
Once the cabbage is tender, stir in liquid smoke.
Step 5
Using a slotted spoon carefully remove the bay leaves and whole cloves.
Step 6
Using the immersion blender, blend until smooth. If you want it super smooth, you can strain it with a sieve but Kat typically doesn't do this.
Step 7
Serve with crunchy croutons and a sprinkle of black pepper.
