Creamy Celery Beef Stroganoff

beef stew meat,

(10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of celery soup, undiluted

(10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

onion,

(6 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained

onion soup mix

pepper

sour cream

noodles

I only had fresh mushrooms so I sauted them in butter before putting them in. So good! My family loves it!

This was quick, easy, and so simple to prepare. The meat was tender and the sauce was flavorful! I'm putting this on my favorite crock pot recipe list!

I have made this regularly over the last few months  so easy and delicious  my family loves this, and I will continue to make it often. VFE

I made this with frozen store bought meatballs. Really enjoyed and will make again.

EXCELLENT RECIPE. FRESH, SLICED, BABY PORTABELLA MUSHROOMS GAVE IT A HEARTIER TASTE THAN CANNED MUSHROOMS WHICH I CONSIDER BLAND

I ended up adding sugar to cut down on the strong salty-kind-of taste. I would suggest using 1/2 envelope of the onion soup mix; perhaps that was the culprit? -Lori in WI.

So easy to prepare and it was delicious!  My slow cooker was set on low all day and came home to a fabulous dinner!

I cut it in half by using 1 lb. stew meat and the can of cream of mushroom soup. Turned out great!

The 8 Hr cook time is way off. I have a newer slow cooker and have found it to be right on when it comes to cook time. I came home with 2 hrs to go and found it had cooked way down. It was also very salty which over powered the awesome flavor it could have had However, it was still good. I am just i had a couple of Oreos & milk after and still can't get the salt taste out of my mouth. I agree with the previous poster, i believe the onion soup mix packet is why it became so full of salt. If i made this again i would reduce the amount of the onion soup mix and cook for around 4-5 hrs. I personally like my meat to go for 7-8 hrs so i am not sure i would make this again. Honestly i have had better slow cooker Stroganoff.

This is somewhat the way I've always made Beef Stroganoff, except I use cream of mushroom soup and beef gravy. An even bigger difference is that I really sear the beef hard with butter. To the point of almost burnt. When I add the soups and let simmer, the meat rehydrates and is full of really nice beefy flavor. I don't add onion or onion soup.

I gave this recipe one more star than my particular effort deserved, but I made a lot of substitutions, and that's on me. I'd say if you're going to make a vegetarian version, and make it on the stove top, leave out the onion soup mix. Beef can stand up to the intense flavor but veggie crumbles can't.

Also, this needs only 4-5 hours in my newer slower cooker.  If cooked longer, I could understand the salty taste others have written about.

My 2 yr. and 3 yr. old who are picky eaters devoured this and had seconds! Me n mike loved it to!

I used 2 cans of cream of mushroom instead of the cream of celery.  I used fresh sliced mushrooms and it tasted great!  I think next time I may experiment & put some fresh celery in it just for a little more flavor.  It cooked much faster than the recipe said- probably in about 4 hours.

Love how easy this is!  And it's quite tasty.

My husband gave me a high five during dinner.  Delicious!  Added an extra can of mushrooms.

I too make this about once a month.  Delicious!  However, I double the meat, but keep the rest of the ingredients as listed.  Big hit with the guys in our family.  :)

Really good, simmered on the stove for an hour worked for me.  I'll change the soup to low sodium next time.  Very good

I think this would have been better without the French Onion Soup Mix.  It made it a little salty and overpowering in onion flavor as there was already onion in it.  Will have to make some adjustments next time.

This recipe is so easy and so delicious I make it for the family about once a month. Highly recommend!

My second try at this recipe tonight, but being made with beef cuts from chuck.  Love using the crockpot, so easy and inviting due to simplicity of this recipe.  Wondering if Linus & Lucy like stroganoff... Rating: 7.5-8.0.

This did not taste like beef stroganoff to me.  It was a good beef and noodles recipe.  The stew meat is tender and the recipe is easy.  Maybe I'll add some garlic next time.
