Crispy Fried Onion Rings

all-purpose flour

water

egg,

salt

baking powder

onion, very thinly sliced

adding rice flour or corn starch to the batter gives a great crisp texture, also some carbonated water to the batter!!! ;-)

I have finally found the secret for getting onion ring batter to stay on the durn onions while cooking. Simply put the sliced onions in a ziplock baggie and let them sit in cornstarch for an hour or so before cooking! Works every time.

Very good.  I did what another reviewer said and coated them in cornstarch before putting them into the batter.  Worked great, delicious!

I used seltzer water or club soda instead of reg water.  I always use in batters for a more lighter, airy outcome

I’ve made this recipe so often! It’s excellent over steaks, fish, salad, potato dishes. It raises everything up a level!

Our family loved this, yum!  Has the right amount of salt to no overpower the flavor of the onion.  We also used this batter to deep fry fresh green beans, also excellent, seriously!

Left out the baking powder...didn't have any. Turned out fast and pretty good too.
