Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the vegetable oil followed by the pork, onion, garlic, oregano, cumin, paprika, sugar, salt, and pepper. Brush the tops of the empanadas with the egg mixture, then bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before eating.
