In a large soup pot over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil.

Add the onion and the garlic to the heated oil and sauté until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.

Add the ground beef and the pork sausage to the onion mixture and cook, while crumbling the meat, until the beef and the sausage are no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the diced tomatoes and their juices, the oregano, the thyme, the cumin, and the red chili flakes to the meat mixture and stir to combine.

Add the beef broth, the salt, the black pepper, and the cabbage to the soup mixture and stir well to combine.

Bring the soup mixture to a boil.

Reduce the stovetop heat to medium-low, and simmer until the cabbage is soft and tender, about 25-30 minutes.
