Step 1

Preheat oven to 350° F. Cream together butter and sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer. Add eggs, milk and vanilla and mix to combine.

Step 2

Combine dry ingredients (baking soda, flour, and salt) in a separate bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing between additions and scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Fold in apples and nuts (optional).

Step 3

Grease a 9x5 loaf pan with non stick cooking spray. Add batter to the pan. Heads up, the batter will be very thick! Use a spatula to evenly spread the batter in the pan.

Step 4

To make the streusel topping, use your fingers or a fork to combine butter, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon until it forms crumbles. Sprinkle over batter.

Step 5

Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. This is a pretty dense bread, so make sure it's cooked all the way through.
