Easy Baked Beans

(28 ounces each) pork and beans

brown sugar

bacon,

onion

cola

ketchup

mustard

We LOVE these baked beans. Now there's a ton of sugar in here, so I don't make them often; we mostly only have them on special occasions, but everyone always raves over them. I've made them long enough that I've started mucking around with the ingredients and measurements. Personally, I take the time to caramelize the onions in the bacon fat and then add about a tablespoon of vinegar to help cut the sweetness. You also don't have to use ALL if the sugar. I made a full batch one time with just half the sugar and they were still VERY good. If you want a good twist, sub Dr Pepper for the cola. This is a pretty fail safe recipe so feel free to mix it up a bit each time you try it.

My girlfriends mom taught me this recipe 53 years ago....although instead of cola we put a bit of molasses in it. This has always been a hit with everybody.

Great recipe for making tasty baked beans quickly.

We really liked these.  I made a 1/2 recipe and there were plenty for our family of 4.
