Name: Easy Baked Fish Fillets
Ingredients: 1 ½ pounds grouper or other white fish fillets; Cooking spray; 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice; 1 tablespoon light mayonnaise; ⅛ teaspoon onion powder; ⅛ teaspoon black pepper; ½ cup fresh breadcrumbs; 1 ½ tablespoons butter or stick margarine, melted; 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Looking for a simple fish dinner? Skip the frozen fillets and try this easy recipe for baked, fresh fish fillets. With little prep involved, this is a great last-minute, easy dinner for the family. You can use any firm white fish: cod, haddock, or grouper work well. The breading is not too overwhelming, but adds a delicious crunch. Serve it with leafy greens or thinly sliced oven baked potatoes.

Place fish in an 11 x 7-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Combine lime juice, mayonnaise, onion powder, and pepper in a small bowl, and spread over fish. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs; drizzle with butter. Bake at 425&deg; for 20 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork. Sprinkle with parsley.


Notes: Haddock or cod would make good substitutes for the grouper. Adjust the baking time depending on the thickness of the fish.


We live on a lake and have an abundance of catfish in the freezer.  I'm always looking for new ways to prepare it.  This was awesome.  I made no changes except to add some granulated garlic and at the end of cooking time to put it under the broiler for a few minutes.  Will be making again.

I used cod which cooked perfectly in 20 minutes.  I did increase the onion powder and pepper to 1/4 tsp and used Italian style bread crumbs for additional flavor.  We really enjoyed this fish!!  

This dish just needs something.  I mean, if you're looking for a really simple and neutral tasting baked fish dish, then this is great.  However, if you like...well...flavor...then it just needs something else, like a gremolata ormaybe a chimichuri.  At the very least a sprinkle of parmesan or perhaps some lemon oils expressed from a lemon peel over the fish.  Not sure I'll be making it again.

This recipe is very good for the bass and catfish my husband and his buddies catch.  They have a tendency to be a bit dry. 

I made this last night and was just disappointed with the taste.  I'm going to try to add something to it, perhaps cayenne pepper to spice it up a bit and perhaps dijon mustard.  Thank you though.

This was a tasty easy dish to make.  I served it with mixed veggies and garlic mashed potatoes.  

 Quick, easy, and delicious!  My type of recipe.   I made it with haddock tonight and added a few slices of lemon to the baking dish.  Excellent for a week night dinner or a special occasion dinner.   

This is a delicious recipe. Very quick to make with ingredients on hand. My son requests it alot.

I didn't see the butter go anywhere in the mixture

My husband and I love this dish.  It is easy to make, tasty, and low in calories.  We make it once a week and enjoy it every time.  We have found Cod to be the tastiest.  I buy frozen Cod for a great price and it is also a reasonably priced dinner.  Fish lovers - you can't miss with this one!  Dorothy F.

I used 1 lb of Cod for this recipe and subbed the lime for lemon juice.  Mixed the butter with the bread crumbs before I sprinkled on the fish.  The crumbs came out crunchy and so good.  I will definitely be making this again!

Easy and delicious! My husband HATES mayo and of course I didn't tell him and he loves it.  It is now part of my meal rotation. I've made this a few times already.  I used flounder. Yesterday I forgot the butter and I doubled the sauce because I made two pounds and it still came out great.

Love this easy fish dish and make it often. Usually thaw frozen tilapia fillets and use them, but, yes, halibut or grouper are even more delicious. It's one of my mom's favorite dinners.

We loved this very simple recipe! I mixed some panko crumbs in with the fresh crumbs and mixed them with the melted butter, then sprinkled it on the fish.

I love this recipe and make it often. It's easy and delicious. I mix the butter and breadcrumbs and then put the breadcrumbs on the fish because the drizzled butter runs off the fish (maybe I'm not patient enough to drizzle slowly).

This is truly an 'easy' recipe.  We try to eat fish several times a week, and this has become one of my go-to recipes. 
Since I do not usually buy onion powder, I use chopped onions instead.  One of my children does not like any type of breading, so I simply do not put any breadcrumbs on his piece.  Otherwise, I follow the recipe to the letter, and it always comes out great.

Have made this many times.  It is super quick and easy.  Halibut is my preferred fish but I have used tilapia as well.  I've used panko but prefer the bread crumbs.  A fish dish even my teenage daughter will eat!

I used haddock and reduced the baking time by 5 minutes. It cae out great.

My husband really liked this and it is easy. We took the advice of many others and added the following: 1 extra tblsp. butter, extra 1/8 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tblsp. parmesan cheese, sprinkle thyme and oregano. Also, we used panko instead of breadcrumbs.

this is my favorite fish dish to make. the mayo is the key ingredient i think. This is a regular dish in my house.

I really love this recipe. I've made it three times. I use olive oil instead of butter, and used panko flakes. Very easy and delicious.

I did not have mayo and used yogurt instead and thought it turned out delicious!!!

I omitted the mayonnaise and made my own marinade. Sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper and rub Boston Seafood seasoning front and back of tilapia. Sprinkle some olive oil and marinade it for 4 hours. 

I did use the panko and butter idea from this recipe and the fish came out awesome. I think next time, I will use half the butter and add olive oil to cut some of the guilt.  :)

Overall, it was a wonderful recipe and everyone will love!

Great recipe. The mayo keeps the fish nice and moist, and helps the breadcrumbs stick to the fish.  I tried it with moonfish (never heard of this, but it was a white fish being sold at the Atlanta farmers market, tasted like halibut) and it was awesome. I subbed in gluten-free breadcrumbs and served with bok Choy and rice pasta. So easy, and husband loved it. I think any seasonings would work well - Parmesan, Italian, garlic powder, lemon pepper, etc.

Excellent recipe! So easy to make and all ingredients always on hand. I tried this because I love fish but my husband and 2 small kids do not. Everyone LOVED this dish and asked for seconds. It was so easy too! Per another reviewers suggestion, I used Panko instead of bread crumbs and sprinkled fish with paprika and parmesan before baking. I served it with browned butter asparagus (my all time favorite CL recipe), couscous and french bread. Will absolutely make again.

This was really yummy. We added cheese on top and used Cod. I'm not sure if we didn't have enough fish.... but the breading was just too thick for me. [and we didn't use all of it] The boyfriend liked it though.

I made this with some thick pieces of flounder and it was delish!  Will definitely make again - everyone loved it.  Used Panko and sprinkled on paprika to give it some color, forgot about the parsley, but no one missed it.

Made with Swai and used lemon juice and panko bread crumbs.  Added dried dill and salt to sauce.  Also salted fish before topping with sauce.  Came out wonderful!  Husband and son loved it.  Cooking method was simple and will be versitile for other fish and seasonings.  I will definitely make it again.

Used tilapia and made sauce of miracle whip, lemon juice, garlic, cajun seasoning, salt and pepper with panko and sprayed it with olive oil baking spray. It was gone! Definitely will make again.

For a quick and easy recipe, it was delightful. I suggest adding a little kosher salt before covering with sauce.  I used white ruffy.

Made with tilapia and lemon juice.  At the last minute I realized I was out of limes.  Because the fish was thinner and I had more pieces per pound, there was more area to spread the mixture over.  I think I needed more mixture than I used because the fish seemed low in seasoning.  I definitely would try this recipe again.  It was very easy and still was eaten up.

I have made this recipe several times as it one of our favorites!  It is delicious and easy to make.  My 5 year old can't get enough of it when I make it.  She will ask for 2nd's and 3rd's.

This was easy, healthy and good. Served it over brown rice with green beans - all spritzed with lemon.

I tried this recipe for the first time and it was great.  I am a beginner to cooking and this recipe was easy and good.  My Dad even enjoyed it!  So this recipe gets a A+!

I have made this several times and it is my go-to recipe for white fish now.  I use Italian breadcrumbs and drizzle olive oil instead of butter.  I also squeeze a little lime directly on the filets before I put the mayo combo on.  It always turns out fantastic.

Very simple and tasty.  Made as directed with black cod which was buttery and delectable. Served with sauteed broccoli and mushrooms and a simple salad.

Great and easy! Served with grilled asparagus. I cooked it for 7 min longer so the top would crisp, and next time might let it spend a minute under the broiler. Loved this!

I really like this recipe and make it all the time. I usually sub panko for the breadcrumbs though and leave out the butter to cut a few calories. Really easy to make and can be used on any kind of fish!

This was sooo good.  All my boys loved it and after the second bite said for me to make this again.  Everyone cleaned their plates.  I used lemon juice instead of lime juice and substituted crushed croutons for the breadcrumbs and it turned out fantastic.  This recipe is a keeper.

extremely tasty!! i loved it but i seemed to be the only one :( 1 kid wouldn't eat it, 1 kid thought it was good, and the man didn't say much. we are a garlic family so i think that might have made the difference. i will make this again (and again and again...) but add different seasoning to make the family like it.     i used crushed rice chex to make it gluten free, instead of bread crumbs, don't think it would have made a difference but just wanted to make a note.

A great recipe but a little bland the first time we ate it.  The second time I topped the cod with low-fat Caesar salad croutons I crushed in my blender before drizzling on the butter. I also added a little garlic powder to the crumbs.  Much, much more flavorful!

Fantastic recipe. And easy! I used tilapia and the fish was perfectly done and tender. Tastes like a restaurant meal!

I made this last night my friend couldn't have enough of it.  Amazing simple recipe for beginners.  I recommend to use Flounder Fillet it's perfect.

I used halibut and Italian breadcrumbs I had.  I sprinkled the breadcrumbs on the fish so didn't use 1/2 cup.  The breadcrumbs were mushy so will drizzle the butter first, then the breadcrumbs the next time I fix this or maybe fresh breadcrumbs will be better.  Will see.  The flavor was good and easy to put together.  A definite repeat.

I made this two nights ago, and my husband and I both loved it.  Very easy to make, and the topping had a lot of flavor.  I will definetely be making this again.  
I did double the sauce topping, as it didn't seem like it would be enough.

I loved this recipe, but my husband absolutely hated it! I'm not sure what he hated more - the taste or the smell.

I'd make it again, but only for myself. I wouldn't make it for guests, out of fear that they'd have the same reaction as my husband.

This is so delicious and so easy!  I used, whole wheat panko breadcrumbs,kerrygold garlic herb butter,Haddock,(only took about 8 min in convection oven) and ommitted the parsely. I would definetly make this again!

I made this for dinner tonight with a salad, so delicious!  My husband caught some speckled trout yesterday and so I figured I'd give it a try.  It was amazing, the fresh breadcrumbs gave it a nice texture and the mayo/lime juice combo seasoned the fish nicely.  I did add some kosher salt to the fish prior to topping with mayo mix.  It was great, I'm sure the fact that the fish was straight out of the gulf the day before helped a lot! We froze the rest of the fish so I will make again, even for company.  My 4 year old gave a "yummy" review too. :)

I LOVE this recipe because it can be prepared in a flash! I usually use tilapia because it is easy to get and inexpensive. Have made this several times.

I made this recipe and thought it was good.  I had to adapt to Gluten-Free so I used Tortilla Crumbs instead, and I thought that worked well.  I will definitely try it again.  It was very easy to make.

I followed the recipe as described.  The flavors were fine.  I don't usually bake fish as I have difficulty determining doneness.  This is the perfect case.  The taste of the fish was very good, but it was WAY over cooked.  I will try this recipe again, but will sautee it in a pan rather than bake to prepare it.  It's worth an attempt.

It's sooo easy and it tastes great! I really wouldn't have imagined that the flavor would be so great w/the ingredients listed, but try it! You will NOT be disappointed. My picky husband and 2 year old eat every last bite. This is a staple here now.

I've tried this recipe two times and each time the fish has turned out like mush. Obviously I am doing something wrong given all the other rave reviews, but I have to throw in the towel on this one.
