Easy Ginger Turmeric Shots

oranges, peeled

lemons, peeled

oz turmeric, cut into 1-2 inch chunks

ginger, cut into 1-2 inch chunks

black pepper

water, more or less as needed

Add all the ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth.

Pour the juice through a nut milk bag or cheese cloth. Squeeze the pulp to extract all the juice.

Delish. I’ve been adding to very warm water. Adding a bit of honey. Yum. Do you think any nutrients/benefits get destroyed or heated too much?

Hi Laurel! My father is 68 years old and still eats like a teenager. He suffers from Gout, High Blood Pressure, Pre-Diabetic, High Cholesterol, and of course he's a bit overweight. He is tall almost 6' and weighs 225lbs. I am going to start his mornings with this ginger tumeric shot. Can you point me to some easy meals to implement into his diet to help his health?

These things WORK. I’ve been doing three a day for like a week now. I don’t strain mine so they’re thicker, even though I dilute the whole batch with 2 cups instead of 1/2 a cup of water. And then I mix each shot individually with even more water when I take them. But I’ll tell you what, I don’t think I’ll ever stop taking these! First of all, taking one of these feels like doing a line of cocaine. Lol. It’s like an instant hit of alertness. And secondly, of course, the myriad of health benefits associated with turmeric and ginger intake. Inflammation, cancer, Alzheimer’s, muscle soreness, PMS, menstrual pain, allergies, digestion, anxiety. I mean the list goes on and on. Thank you for sharing this recipe! I’m pushing this stuff on all my family and friends now. Lol.

I just made this but did not strain it. I was just thinking the fiber is an added benefit if I don’t strain. It was like a thick smoothie texture out of my bullet. I did peel the turmeric and ginger because I was going to be consuming it all. I think it would also be good topped with seltzer as a refreshing drink/mocktail. .
