I should rename these to the Houdini cookies, with how fast they vanish from my kitchen. Very fluffy and delicious. My daughter just turned one and loves to help make these. She pulls the paper from the butter, peels the bananas, mashes and mixes. It's so fast and easy. Any time we have a couple bananas going brown we mix up these. The recipe originated as my grandmother's banana bread, but one day I was in a rush and didn't want to wait an hour for the bread to bake so I tossed them in as cookies and we all agreed it came out better this way.

Easy Kids' Recipe for Fluffy Banana Cookies

bananas, mashed,

all-purpose flour

white sugar,

butter, melted

walnuts

baking soda

salt

white sugar

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.


Place bananas, flour, 1/2 cup sugar, butter, walnuts, egg, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Mix until well combined. Drop 3 tablespoonfuls of dough 2 to 3 inches apart onto baking sheet. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar on top.


Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and edges are set, 15 to 20 minutes.


Was a fast and easy cookie with tasty results - however, I did make changes, so i couldn't honestly critique based on the original recipe, but the base ingredients were just what i was looking for:  easy, not too much sugar or butter.

My recipe:
(all the base recipe ingredients)
minus the nuts.
I added a splash of vanilla, so maybe one teaspoon.
added 1 cup of quick oats to thicken the batter.
Added mini chocolate chips on top for additional, optional flavor.

Still baked them at 325 degrees, but dropped 1 rounded tablespoon on an insulated cookie sheet, on parchment, for 15 minutes.  When taken out of the oven, I left them on the cookie sheet for an additional 10 minutes before removing to a rack for cooling.

These were incredibly moist, soft and fluffy.  I will definitely be making these again (possibly in lieu of an actual banana bread!)

i made it exactly as written and it came out as a massive hit in my family..lol.  Im going to get more bananas so I can't make these again!  Nice to have something to do with my last "aging" bananas.  Everyone really did gobble them up:)  Thanks for sharing  this.

Very good, almost a cross between a muffin and a cookie.

Delicious and simple! I subbed greek yogurt for half of the butter (so, 2 tablespoons of greek yogurt and 2 tablespoons of butter). Sprinkled oats on top too for a nice touch!

Easy recipe! I added vanilla, cinnamon, and a few white chocolate chips. I also substituted hazelnuts for the walnuts because that’s what was in the pantry! This batter recipe is really flexible and can easily handle adding banana-friendly flavours like chocolate.

My mom had a similar recipe. They were always my kids favourites. they looked forward to them every time we visited. My dad suggested I started making them. They are a hit. I made these several times now. Kids do not like the sprinkled sugar on top but I do toss in a 1/4 of chocolate chips. They don’t last long.

Yum, it's a debate whether this is a cookie or muffin top! It is light, fluffy and delicious. 
I did add vanilla and oatmeal and choc chips to the mix.

Easier than making banana bread or cake.  Definitely a repeat.
I substituted almonds for the walnuts and omitted the  tablespoon of sugar for the tops of cookies. Instead when they came out of oven, I dusted them with confectioners sugar. Next time I may add cinnamon and vanilla.

Absolutely phenomenal!  I reduced the sugar a bit, and omitted the sugar topping cause I just felt a bit lazy. I replaced walnuts with chocolate chips that I hand stirred in after mixing everything else. This will be my new go-to recipe when I have leftover bananas (which is like every other week!). So easy and fast, not to mention delicious!

The kids ate them faster than I could make them! Got to try 1 and it was very delicious.

These are really good. I didn't add nuts and I substituted coconut oil for butter. I suggest putting your batter in the fridge for 15 minutes before baking they turned out wonderful! These are really soft, they actually remind me of muffin tops. Thank you so much for such an easy recipe!

I made these cookies with my grandkids. They were so easy to make and came out great! Very fluffy and soft. We added chocolate chips and red and green sugar on top for Christmas! They’re a hit with the whole family!!

This is the fluffiest fastest cookies I have ever made!  I like that you can use 2 or 3 bananas if you like, and that you can add nuts or chocolate chips to the mix.  I have made these cookies twice and have stopped making banana bread because these cookies are so good!  Highly recommend this recipe!

These were VERY “wet” and molded quickly.  They had a good flavor, but I don’t like my cookies wet.

Made these but used wholewheat flour. Super easy and quick to throw together. Next time will try adding a little vanilla and cinnamon. Really tasty and low in sugar compared to some cookies.

So delicious! We added chocolate chips which were a huge hit. These are not going to last long in our house!

Used 3 bananas, gluten free flour, walnuts and 1/3 cup chocolate chips, and 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice. Otherwise, followed the recipe. Delicious!

What easy and delicious recipe. I put in some vanilla in the batter. I saw a post, so I decided to use it. I don’t know if anyone does this, but I put my cookies in a container with bread in it. It stays soft not hard!! I do it with all my cookies  I’m adding this recipe for my Christmas list!!!!

Delicious! My 5 and 3 year olds loved helping mix all the ingredients. We cut sugar in half, added pecans and chocolate chips and the texture was still great!

Great recipe. Always looking for overripe banana recipes and this one is a keeper. Though great as is this is my lower fat/calorie version. I replaced the butter with apple sauce and cut back the sugar to 1/3 cup. (89 cal AC/DC to MyFitnessPal) No sugar on top. The walnuts would have terrific in, but alas allergies in the family mean if we want to share they have to be omitted.

These are amazing! The only thing I had to do was add a little water because one of my banana was dry, so the batter was dry. And I added choc chips because I'm allergic to nuts. We've had them for dessert and breakfast so far.

Definitely a must keep recipe. They're soft, light, fluffy and oh so yummy!!

Very good cookie, but I didn’t put nuts. Instead I put mini chocolate chips.

I was looking for a new recipe for some really ripe bananas. I always make Banana Muffins. This recipe is very similar to that one, so I gave it a try and I was pleased. My family felt like they were more “muffin top” texture than traditional cookie texture, but they were soft and delicious. 
I may add a little vanilla and cinnamon next time because I love those flavors, but the recipe was great as-is.

Easy recipe to whip up in no time. Tastes like a muffin and hit the spot for that banana muffin/banana bread taste with very little work and clean up. I substituted greek plain yogurt and olive oil for the butter (2T of each) since I was out of butter and that substitution worked fine, although I did have to add an extra 1/2 c flour. Also added a dash of nutmeg.

This is going to be my go to recipe for ripened bananas now.  Makes a small batch so I don't have them around for weeks.

Really easy and quick To make.  Nice when you want a mildly sweet treat.

These have become a staple cookie in our home now! I substitute pecans for walnuts (I am allergic), and I omit sprinkling sugar on top and instead frost the cookies with cream cheese frosting once cooled

Absolutely amazing I did the same as previous commenter by adding 1 tsp vanilla to original recipe and approx 2 cups oatmeal total right before putting in the oven I dropped a few chocolate chips on top or assort candies as well as folded in a cup or so into the cookie dough batter. These are fabulous kids loved even family friends and my own father enjoyed. Best part so simple to make and look cute and colorful. Ty them out you will love them. I’ve made these cookies three times with my 2-1/2 year old granddaughters and they’ve started asking for them every time they come over. We add 1/2 cup chocolate chips and use a cookie scoop to make smaller cookies. The recipe done this way makes about 2-1/2 dozen cookies. I also don’t sprinkle the tops with sugar. Great recipe!

Love this simple recipe.  My daughter likes me to add extra bananas so that they are heavy and moist.  Otherwise they are fluffy and light.  Great both ways :)

We used 3 bananas, because we had 3 going back. Also, added a splash of vanilla, because we just did. These were a hit! My 7 year old was able to help make them all and he was eating them up. They have that great banana flavor and we loved the walnuts. They are light and airy like bread. Will make again!

Amazing and so easy. I ate 3 before they were even close to cooled! I think we’ll be making more tonight
