A simple to make yet impressive appetizer that is sure to make your guests swoon! Prosciutto, honeyed goat cheese, and fresh figs come together in each fabulous bite. When ready to serve, slice and serve with crackers.

Fig and Prosciutto Appetizer Bites

honey-flavored goat cheese

prosciutto

figs,

basil,

black pepper

Place goat cheese on a sheet of plastic wrap. Top with another sheet of plastic wrap and use a rolling pin to flatten into a 4x8-inch rectangle.


Remove the top sheet of plastic wrap and cover goat cheese with slices of prosciutto, slightly overlapping the edges. Cover prosciutto with a new sheet of plastic wrap and flip both sheets over so the goat cheese layer is now facing up.


Remove top sheet of plastic wrap. Cover goat cheese evenly with figs, basil, and black pepper. Starting from the long edge, roll tightly to form a log. Wrap log in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours.


Very simple to make and very tasty. I couldn't find any honey goat cheese so I just added a bit of honey to regular goat cheese. Worked well and you can adjust it to your own tastes.

Excellent! Because it isn't "fresh fig" time of the year, I used fig preserves instead and it came out just fantastic. My friends raved (and then asked for the recipe.) Thanks!

I love this combination of sweet savory salty and smoky. I'm going to try this with fig jam instead of fresh figs and see how that turns out too.

Everyone loved this! We used fig spread instead of chopped figs, which was much easier.  I would suggest chopping the basil into pieces instead of strips, it makes for easier cutting of the final product.  Also sprinkled some chopped basil on the top since the finished product looks like raw meat and isn't very appetizing, but sure tastes good!  We quadrupled this recipe to get two logs that were about 12" each.  It fed 15 people as an appetizer.
