Georgia-Style Boiled Peanuts

Combine peanuts, salt, and 14 cups water in a tall, oval 6-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on HIGH 18 hours or until peanuts are soft. Drain peanuts before serving or storing. Store in zip-top plastic bags in refrigerator up to 2 weeks.


Since fresh green peanuts are only available to me a few months out of the year. I make quite a bit (crock pot is the only way to go!!!) Then I freeze quart freezer bags of boiled peanuts and bring them out throughout the year

Great basic crock pot boiled peanuts recipe!  This is the one anyone should use as a base, and I've used a few times already.  I find that I need 24-36 hours to get the peanuts to the level of soft I prefer, but start with the recipe and go from there!My favorite variation: split your salt halfway between regular and Hawaiian red salt (Many international stores like World Market sell it for usually $5-7/lb).  The red comes from Hawaiian Alaea baked clay and adds a mellow, earthy flavor that just can't be beat. (Try it alongside mesquite smoke for a "mainland-authentic" kalua pork, also ~12hrs in a crock pot)

These are so easy and super tasty. They store in the refrigerator and can be reheated. Yummy treat to take camping and reheat over camp fire. I used 2 lbs of raw peanuts.

Hands down, this is the easiest way to boil peanuts.
