Ingredients: ½ cup butter, melted; 1 cup white sugar; 3 large egg whites, lightly beaten; 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon; 1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste; 4 cups pecan halves

This makes a great gift. Put pecans in mason jar and tie lid with ribbon or raffia. My family and friends love them and request them every holiday. Easy and inexpensive gift. Adjust spice to your liking.

Glazed Spicy Cinnamon Pecans

butter, melted

pecan halves

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Pour butter over foil layer.


Whisk sugar, egg whites, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper together in a large bowl. Add pecans and toss to fully coat. Spread coated pecans on the buttered baking sheet.


Bake in the preheated oven, stirring and flipping pecans after 10 minutes, until pecans are toasted, about 20 minutes. Cool pecans on baking sheet for 15 minutes.


Super recipe!! Much less time consuming than similar recipes where you roast the pecans separately. I added 1/2 tsp. salt and used half white half brown sugar. In place of cayenne I used cardamom one of my favorite spices. Many thanks for this recipe it's a keeper!

I would not change a thing. This recipe is amazing!!!

I followed the ingredients to the letter but cooked it for 30 minutes. I will be making this again.

I made these per the recipe and they were neither sweet or spicy. They were also rather greasy feeling from all the butter.

I used 1/2 white and brown sugar and added 1/2 tsp salt They taste amazing

One word- ADDICTING!  I used almost a teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 4 1/2 cups pecans in the mix since there was an ample amount of coating.  I only used 3/4 stick of melted butter in the bottom of my lines baking sheet to avoid the pecans becoming too greasy.  Fabulous!

Excellent base recipe, but definitely needs at least 1/2 tsp or more of cayenne to taste any heat. Sweet, just needs more heat. I used 1/2 light brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar, which gives it a deeper flavor. Next time I’ll use 1 full tsp cayenne. Highly recommend this recipe. Very easy. Thanks for sharing!

Easy to make for gifts or a snack. The perfect blend of flavors that will have you coming back for more. Don't over cook these were done in 15 minutes.

This was a first for me. I have never made sugar coated nuts in any form. I followed the instructions adding a 1/2 tsp salt and the pecans turned out delicious! I made two batches. After guestimating the cayenne the first time I measured 1/4 tspn the next round which adds just barely enough spice. The only thing I would emphasize is use a timer. The second round as I was tossing at one point I forgot to restart my timer and I overcooked a tad. Or maybe the oven was warmer. Whatever the case don't overbake these!
