Name: Grandma Barb's Homemade Cough Syrup
Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups organic raw honey; 1/2 cup organic extra virgin olive oil; 1-5 organic lemons (juiced (the more the better))

Grandma&#x27;s easy recipe for natural, homemade cough syrup. Uses only three powerful ingredients; olive oil, honey, and lemon. Soothes sore, itchy, dry throats and calms coughs

Grandma Barb's Homemade Cough Syrup

organic raw honey

organic extra virgin olive oil

1-5 organic lemons (juiced (the more the better))

Add honey, olive oil and lemon juice to a small pot.

Stir.

Heat over medium heat until barely warm, stirring. (See note)

Remove from heat and let cool.

Place into a jar with a lid.

Store in the refrigerator

Take 1 tablespoon warmed as needed.

This homemade cough syrup recipe is like gold to my entire family because it's easy to make, natural, and it works! Honey, olive oil and fresh lemon juice does wonders for cold and allergy symptoms. 

I give this homemade cough syrup to Isaac whenever I think he is about to get a cold. It knocks it right out! And being a 4 year- old BOY (aka germ city) I think having only 2 colds in his life is pretty darn good. That's one of the reason why I prefer natural remedies for sickness. It doesn't just numb the body and soothe the symptoms like manmade medicines tend to do. It actually strengthens the immune system giving it things that is actually needs.

Make up a batch to have on hand. It lasts for a long time in the refrigerator. Just be sure to stir it up real good before use. I also like to warm it up in the microwave before use as well. It's much more soothing when it's warm.
