Step 1

In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Divide the beef into four equal portions and shape them into thick patties.

Step 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the hamburger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1 minute, until it forms a smooth paste.

Step 4

Slowly pour in the beef broth while whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Stir in the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency. Remove from heat.

Step 5

While the gravy is simmering, cook the eggs sunny-side-up in a separate non-stick skillet. Cook them until the whites are set but the yolks are still slightly runny.

Step 6

To assemble the Loco Moco, place a scoop of cooked white rice on a plate. Add a hamburger patty and a generous scoop of gravy. Top with a sunny-side-up egg and garnish with chopped green onions or parsley.
