Step 1
Cook the bacon on medium heat for about 2 minutes per side, or until crispy-ish. You want it slightly crisp but not dry.
Step 2
Remove the bacon from the pan and slice into small slices. I used kitchen scissors for this.
Step 3
Keep about half of the bacon fat in the pan for flavor. In the same pan, on low-medium heat, cook the ground sausage until no longer pink. This will take about 4 minutes. You will need a wooden spoon to stir and break the meat apart while cooking.
Step 4
Add the ground sausage to a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
Step 5
Top that will the sliced bacon pieces.
Step 6
Add the blend of cheeses to the dish.
Step 7
In a large bowl, combine the eggs, heavy cream, cottage cheese, salt, pepper, onion powder and cayenne pepper. Using an electric mixer, combine until smooth.
Step 8
Pour the egg mixture into the baking dish.
Step 9
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 35 minutes, or until the center looks set and until slightly golden on top.
