Ingredients: 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper; 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger; 1 tablespoon honey; 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar; 2 tablespoons water

This is a home remedy for that horrible cough that you just can't get rid of, and best of all: you probably already have all of the ingredients!

Homemade Cough Medicine

cayenne pepper

ginger

honey

apple cider vinegar

water

Take by the teaspoon as often as needed for cough.

Do not give to infants under 12 months due to the honey (though I doubt you could get them to take it anyway!).

I've used variations of this a lot.  I always add fresh minced or crushed garlic as well.  Garlic is a natural antibiotic and anti viral.  I also sometimes add dry mustard or horseradish.  I never add water becauce when the honey is thick, it coats your throat and helps even more.
