I too add a touch of sugar to the water. We use the end piece of bread to butter the corn. Spread butter over the bread then turn the cob while cupping then piece of bread in your hand.

This was awful. I tried salty water for the first time. Normally I don't add salt or sugar but am always up for making a simple dish better. The salt made the corn oddly bitter and I then had two beautiful but ruined cobs. Definitely do not do. It overpowers the delicate taste of the kernels. Just boil or steam then add butter and salt the old fashioned way.

I ALWAYS add sugar and lemon juice in water before boiling.  It’s always delicious 😋.

For the best corn on the cob after boiling pour out water , recover pot and let corn rest in the pot for another 5 min . The steam and time will allow the natural sugars to be released.. (Try it ) sweeter and more tender

Instead of trying to spread butter on a piece of corn, I take the butter and put it in the core cob holder and just roll the cob. So much easier and way less mess!!

Thank you for our new Go-To way to cook corn on the cob!  No more will lie over boil the corn and we are stuck eating rubberized product that one wouldI think with corn on the cob. Boiled my water just as directed then dropped in the corn and cook them for five minutes. Perfect-O!
