Step 1
Start by boiling water in a kettle or pot.
Step 2
While the water is getting warm, wash your handful of fresh mint under cold water to remove any dirt. One handful of mint should be enough to make two cups of mint tea. Once washed, add the mint to the pot.
Step 3
Once the pot begins to boil, turn off the stove. Let the tea steep for a couple of minutes. For a richer, steeper, and darker tea color, let it steep for about 10 minutes. Ultimately, the longer you steep, the stronger the flavor. If you prefer a milder taste, steep for a shorter time. Taste the tea at intervals to find your ideal strength.
Step 4
Once the mint steeps, carefully strain the leaves with the strainer and pour the mint water into a mug.
Step 5
Optional step: While mint tea has a natural sweetness, you can enjoy it as is or add a natural sweetener, such as honey, sugar, or maple sugar, to enhance the flavor.
