Inside-Out Stuffed Cabbage

beef

butternut squash (about 12 ounces)

green pepper, chopped

onion soup mix

brown sugar

(11-1/2 ounces) Spicy Hot V8 juice

water

cabbage (about 1 small head)

instant brown rice

Delicious! For my big family, I doubled everything except the brown sugar and green pepper. Served it with French bread and everyone loved it.

<p>Great base recipe but even after seasoning I felt it was lacking a depth of flavor.  The tomato really underwhelms the palate.  I added 3 allspice berries, 7 juniper berries, and 1tsp of caraway seed and let it simmer with those for a bit along with substituting broth for the water.  Because this doesn't cook for long, the flavor is better the next day.  I also used purple cabbage and red cauliflower to give it a brighter color pallet.  My kids all devoured it, added bonus is making it GF by subbing the onion soup mix for onion powder, dried red onion flakes, and 1/2tsp salt.</p>

This was definitely tasty. It needed a bit more flavor as it was kind of bland. I would add lemon juice next time and some more sugar. The only change I made was I used non beefy onion soup, and impossible meat because we are vegetarian.

Family doesn't like squash so I used a whole medium cabbage, white rice and shredded cheese on top when served. Delish!

This was good. I used frozen butternut squash which was not the best idea. It seemed to disappear while I was trying to get the cabbage cooked. I should have cut the cabbage in smaller pieces. I chopped it like broad noodles and it took longer to cook. Definitely needed to chop it finer… more like medium noodles. I will make it again with my changes.

This was delicious! My son won’t even taste squash of any kind. My butternut squash had a soft spot and I needed to cook it right away. I cut it up in small pieces that would melt in the pot. I didn’t have any juice so I used a can of diced tomatoes, omitted the sugar (we’re diabetic), used packaged cole slaw mix, and used one cup of rice. Not so many changes that it affected the flavors, though. I’m going to need to add more water or juice since I added more rice. We loved it and my son never suspected it had squash in it!! This is a keeper!

This was pretty quick and simple to make.  I prepared the butternut squash and the green pepper the night before which really made prep time go quickly the night I made it.  I really liked the flavor and I felt good that I was feeding my family something with cabbage and squash, things I don't use very often.  I do think that it could stand a little more seasoning thought.  I added salt and pepper to my bowl and that did the trick.  Worth a try!

This has to be the best cabbage dish I have ever eaten..So easy to prepare and my husband loved it!It also freezes well.

I make this all the time :) If I cannot find butternut squash I use yellow squash and zucchini mixed....still just as delicious.....I also use ground turkey instead of beef and you can't tell the difference!

This was a great recipe! I have been trying to find things I can make that don't have gluten. I modified the recipe by using beef broth instead of the water and soup mix and I used more uncooked rice.

This recipe was delicious. I did keep the rice on the side just so it would keep better.

This meal was awesome!  My husband and I ate the entire pot in two days!!!  Making again this weekend!

I loved it it reminded me of the Chili my Grandmother use to make. If you added Chili powder to it with a little onion. And leave out the brown sugar and the squash. You would have Grandma's Cabbage Chili It was really good.

I didn't add the green peppers...even my kids loved this recipe. My 12 year old has recently asked when I am going to make it again!

This was just ok and I am usually a big fan of cabbage.  It is missing tomatoes or something.

I do not like squash so I made mine without it and served it with butter bread and the family loved it, it taste like a stuffed pepper

We loved this. It is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. My husband had seconds at dinner and more later that night. He also took some for lunch the next day. Will make again

This was a great dinner! My husband hates squash so I probably won't put it in next time. Other than that there were no complaints.
