Step 1
Heat a medium sized skillet over a low heat. Add the butter and allow to melt. Carefully whisk the cream into the melted butter in 3 separate additions. Make sure the fats completely emulsify before continuing.
Step 2
In 3-4 additions, whisk in the cheddar cheese. Continually stir until the cheese is completely melted. You should have a smooth and creamy sauce consistency.
Step 3
Set the sauce to one side to cool for 5 minutes. This cooling time will allow the sauce to thicken. Once cooled a little, the sauce is ready to serve and enjoy.
