In a large pot, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add garlic and saute for 1 minute. Stir in spinach. Cook for 2-3 mins stirring frequently. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. I added an optional 2 tsp of pepper flakes! Pour in chicken broth and artichoke hearts. Heat for 5-10 minutes. Turn heat to LOW. Add heavy cream. Stir together. Add cream cheese (I cut it into cubes) and let melt slowly. Stir in parmesan cheese. Season according to taste. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese shavings.
