Name: Krumkake I
Ingredients: 1 egg; ½ cup white sugar; 1 cup heavy whipping cream; 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour; ½ teaspoon baking powder; ¼ teaspoon salt; 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

This is a traditional Norwegian goodie made with a Krumkake iron on top of the stove, then rolled around a cylinder (broomstick in the old days) until cool.

Krumkake I

white sugar

heavy whipping cream

all-purpose flour

baking powder

salt

vanilla extract

Beat egg.  Add sugar and vanilla and mix well.  Add whipping cream.  Add dry ingredients and beat until smooth.


When krumkake iron is hot, put 1 teaspoon of batter on the iron and bake until light brown.  Roll on stick immediately when krumkake is still hot.


I've made many a krumkake and this one is a favorite. I added 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg... tasty! My mom's recipe which contains butter although delicious are more fragile and a bit more difficult to transport for holiday gatherings. Try this version. You won't be disappointed.

This is the first time I have made krumkake (I thought it was too hard) But I decided to try and absolutely love this recipe. Easy dough and tastes like what I remember from my childhood.

Easiest recipe I have found and turns out great every time

The batter produced would be more fitting for a cake. It absolutely needs melted butter to be thin enough to pour. Highly not recommended. I'm going to use the recipe on the NordicWare krumkake iron box.
