Step 1

Brown ground beef in a large skillet on medium-high heat until no pink remains. Drain if necessary.

Step 2

Return ground beef to pan and add 2 tablespoons (or 1 envelope) of taco seasoning and 1/2 cup water.

Step 3

Cook over medium heat until all liquid is absorbed.

Step 4

In a medium bowl, combine taco meat and refried beans until well combined.

Step 5

Transfer taco meat and refried beans to a 13x9 glass baking dish. This serves as the base for your layered taco dip.

Step 6

In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, sour cream, garlic, and 2 tablespoons (or 1 envelope) taco seasoning until smooth and creamy.

Step 7

Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over taco meat and bean mixture.

Step 8

Top with cheese, tomatoes, and any other toppings you like, such as avocado.

Step 9

Place the casserole dish of taco layered dip in the refrigerator to chill at least 1 hour before serving.

Step 10

Serve 7 layer taco dip with an additional small bowl of sour cream and some tortilla chips.
