Step 1

Oven Directions

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 400°F.

Step 3

Peel the rutabaga and slice horizontally into circles that are approximately 1/4 inches in thickness.

Step 4

If you have a french fry cutter, use that to cut the rutabaga into fry shapes. If not, stack several of the circles on top of one another and slice the rutabaga into sticks or fry shapes.

Step 5

Line a baking sheet with foil and place the rutabaga fries on top.

Step 6

Pour the oil and seasonings over the low carb fries and toss them until coated.

Step 7

Rearrange the fries so that they are in a single layer, about an inch apart.

Step 8

Bake the low carb fries for approximately 40 minutes or until the outside is crispy and the inside is soft.

Step 9

Optional: For an extra crispy fry, try broiling your low carb fries for an additional 1-2 minutes, making sure to keep a careful eye on them so that they do not burn.

Step 10

Air Fryer Directions

Step 11

Follow all of the same prep-work directions as above.

Step 12

Place the fries in your air fryer, spaced out, and not overlapping.Note: Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may have to cook in several batches.

Step 13

Cook at 400°F for 10 minutes.

Step 14

Flip the low carb fries or shake the basket (depending on the type of air fryer you have) and continue cooking at 400°F for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Step 15

Additional toppings: Try topping your low carb fries with Parmesan cheese, olive oil, Italian seasoning and sea salt for an Italian seasoned fry. Add creole seasoning and hot sauce for a firey fry or simply add cheddar cheese, bacon, and jalapenos for a classic fully loaded fry.
