Step 1

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set it aside.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together using a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve as is, or top with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or your favorite fruit. Enjoy!
