6 small ripe pears, halved1/4 cup (60 milliliters) maple syrup, plus extra to serve25 grams unsalted butter, chopped, plus 100 grams extra unsalted butter, melted1/4 cup (55 grams) caster sugar3/4 cup toasted mixed nuts (we used pecans, walnuts and hazelnuts), chopped1 cup (150 grams) plain flour1/2 cup (45 grams) rolled oats (we used Woolworths Macro rolled oats)1/2 tsp allspiceYoghurt or double cream, to serve

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C. Place pears in a large baking dish, so they are packed tightly. Drizzle with maple syrup and dot over 25g chopped butter, cover with foil and bake for 30-35 minutes until softened slightly.

Step 2

To make the crumble, place sugar, nuts, extra 100g melted butter, flour, oats and allspice in a bowl and mix to combine. Spoon the crumble topping over the pears and bake for a further 30-35 minutes until golden and crisp. Drizzle with extra maple syrup and serve with yoghurt or cream alongside.
