Step 1

Place the beans in a suitable container and microwave, covered for 3 minutes. Alternatively, boil or steam the beans just until crisp-tender, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Step 2

Melt the butter and olive oil in a sauté pan over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and sauté just for 1 minute until fragrant, taking care to not let it burn.

Step 3

Add the beans to the pan and toss with the cumin and cayenne pepper, season to taste with salt and black pepper. Cook just until the beans are heated through.
